HABA honored with not one, but two T.O.Y. (Toy of the Year) Awards from FamilyFun magazine
In this kid-tested competition, the family judges deemed Henry HABA Strong Armor and HABA’s Expedition Dino game to be worth of inclusion among the 21st annual T.O.Y. winners
SKANEATELES, NY – One of the most coveted awards in the world of toys, the FamilyFun magazine T.O.Y. (Toy of the Year) Awards, has just been announced and HABA Toys had landed two of its most creative offerings among the winners.
HABA’s Henry HABA Strong Armor and Expedition Dino were among the 30 winners for this holiday season in the 21st Annual T.O.Y. Awards announced and featured in the magazine’s November 2012 edition, which hit newsstands nationwide on Oct. 18.
What sets the FamilyFun T.O.Y Awards apart from other recognitions in the toy industry is that the magazine uses actual kids as the ultimate judges. More than 300 toys and games for children were submitted from toy manufacturers the world over for consideration and these were sent out across the United States to dozens of families – and children, of course – for road-testing and evaluation. Based on the feedback from actual play the magazine each year selects the top 30 toys as award winners.
“To get even one product to be recognized in FamilyFun’s T.O.Y Awards is quite an honor, but having two award winners this year leaves me humbled, stunned and quite proud,” said Lea Culliton, President of HABA USA. “FamilyFun is one of the greatest sources for families with children under 12 to help make family time more creative and meaningful. Millions of readers each month rely on it for ideas on cooking, celebrating, volunteering, travel, activities and, of course, toys and games. We are so honored.”
In its citation for the Henry HABA Strong Armor, targeted to children 3 to 6 years old, the magazine wrote:
“A knight is only as good as his armor, and our brave testers judged this padded fabric breastplate far superior to knavish plastic costumes. It’s handsomely detailed and comfortable even during battles with dragons. The top add-on accessory was the mace, a plush spiked ball and chain. “My son slept with his,” reports one sire. Additional pieces, including helmet, shield, sword, and lance, sold separately.”

Writing of HABA’s Expedition Dino game, a top choice for kids 5 to 8 years old, FamilyFun said:
